My name is Anna, I'm 17 years old and I'm an exchange student from Iceland.
I come from Gardabaer, a small town right outside Reykjavik, the capital of
Iceland. My family consists of me, me mom and dad, my 21 year old sister and
my 14 year old sister. Since I was young I have always been very interested
in music. I have played the piano since I was eight and sung in choirs since
I was 13. For the past few years I have been learning a lot about jazz and
that has become my main hobby now. My high school's name is Menntaskólinn
við Hamrahlíð and there we can chose a field to specialise in, and I chose
language and social studies.
Right now, I live in a very nice small town 30 minutes outside Orlando
called Winter Springs and am living with my wonderful and generous host
family!
The reason why I decided to become and exchange student was because I
simply wanted to do something new. I wanted to out of my comfort zone and do
something different from everything I know and of course meet new people and
get to know a new culture.
I want to give great thanks to the Rotary Youth Exchange program, my
sponsor club, my host club of Winter Springs and of course my parents for
making this year possible for me and giving me this amazing opportunity!
